About Me
Here are a few things about me
I was born and grew up in Western Massachusetts. While working and raising 2 boys, I took a 2 da Nikon Workshop, which inspired me to explore photography more. I moved to Minnesota in 1984. When I retired there, my wife and I bought a motor home and traveled the US, Canada and Mexico.
When we sold our last property in Minnesota, we bought a house in Friendship, Maine. About the same time we started spending most winters on Jekyll Island, Georgia. In 2018, we ended all that and moved to Florida.
When I retired, I picked up a Nikon point-and-shoot camera, soon a second one. I found them too limiting. Next I went to a Panasonic point-and-shoot with manual zoom. It gave me much more opportunities to compose a photo. I used Adobe Photoshop Elements to store and process my images.
Next I purchased a Nikon D10, later a Nikon D7100. The flexibility of a DSLR, the speed at which it took photos, the options for different lenses, the higher pixel count all created space to try more difficult things, like birds and astrophotography. I moved to Adobe Lightroom 1 when it became available.
IN 2018, I purchased a Sony A7R3 mirrorless camera. Even more pixels, faster focusing and a 600mm lens meant I could reach out for birds in flight, which is where they are often found in Florida. I added a macro lens for close ups, and a wide angle for astro photos.
Joining the DPI-SIG Photo Club in Naples, Florida gave me a chance to learn new skills, see more places, and delve further into photographic technology.
